I want to learn ALL I can about pigs before next March...that's when we're  suppose to get our other fair hogs.  This time..we're getting 2.  Did learn that much this year.

Is there some type of book or web site I can go to, to find the information I'm looking for??

I know this may sound strange but....I want to learn about there feelings....kind of like people have learned about Whales and Dolphins.  I know they are not like these type of animals/mamals...but...I know there has to be more to this.

All infor needed.

Thanks, neasie

My advice is pretty generic-that is, it applies to any animal species' "feelings".  If an animal has a low stress environment, they have a greater opportunity to thrive.  How do you reduce stress on a pig?  Think about how people pamper their dogs.  Pigs are more intelligent, and can be very interactive.  They need some sort of mental stimulation-be it human contact or play time with another pig, keep them busy.  Try giving them 50# paper feed bags as toys.  They actually thrash them around and play with them, then shred them into pieces.  Give them a variety of fresh fruit or vegetables as treats; find out what is their favorite.  Marshmellows are great treats, and are about the easiest thing to use to tame down a skittish pig.  Be creative, get to know your animal, and good luck next season!   :)

I know this may be a little late...but better late than never...

Try reading any book by Temple Grandin.  Google the name...she is a professor at Colorodo State University.
